ghetto double exposure camera

found this old point&shoot film camera that my late gran bought me when i was about 8 or 9, iv had it for ages! i used it abit on my fishing trips about 4 years ago, and it got wet. the emulsion from the film that was in there got all sticky and like glued the little reel that the film spools onto into the body, so it didnt turn anymore.

so i set about taking the little camera apart. damn there were alot of small screws. i cleaned the emulsion off the parts that were stuck together, and they all turned fine again. then i worked out a way to make it still wind the spring up for the shutter, but not advance the film. its rad, i pull the little pin out the bottom of the camera, and hold onto that huge pen sticking out the bottom, and then wind the film advance. the film doesnt move, but the shutter is set for the next shot. then wen im done with the double exposure i just push that pin back in, and voila.

cant wait to try it out. im thinking of maybe putting a piece of tape over half the lens for each exposure, that way the pics wont be too over exposed. ill try it out tonight : )

the highway collectives night out

so lastnight the highway collective went to tarlton for some drag racing. hooked up with brad (hellchops) in the "ghetto" and waited for jon (the collective) to meet us. we then hit the road.

pulled through to sasol at the big fourway stop, for lack of a better name, to meet stu (roadhawg). brad decided that the sasols landscaping wasnt quite up to scratch and proceeded to rearrange one of their yellow wooden poles...

we parked and chilled up at the start line for a while. stu had a couple of runs and posted a best time of 16.3 seconds, not too bad for the daddy cabby. after that we just chilled by the cars and spoke shit for a good 30 or 40 mins. was pretty damn cold, but the highway collective was in high spirits having racked up our first drag race victory, a notion that brought a chuckle to the group.

took this shot of jon's caddy on the way to the northgate mcdees, brad wanted to check out the illegal drags. its really shakey and out of focus, but i dont care, i think its cool : )

after talking some more crap at mcdess we headed home. brad wanted to "show me sumthing", so i was like cool. we drove towards this dodgy little cafe/petrol station, and brad said "check wat these guys so wen i put my indicator on". as soon as he indicated, like 5 or 6 of these nigerian dudes started whistling and holding up their hands, signalling for us to pull in. they were drug dealers! craziest shit iv ever seen, haha!

heres a shetchy drive-by shot of 2 of them, couldnt exactly hold the camera up and ask them to say "cheese"! you can kinda make out the one dude in the yellow rainmack and another ones's outline against the shop lights.

we then headed back to brad place. took this sketchy handheld shot, should hav taken the time to set up the tripod, but was kinda a spur of the moment thing.

first post

yo well this is this my first post on my new blog, eedubz.blogspot.com. as u read more of my future posts ull probably notice that i dont care much for capital letters or typing out full words. sorry for that, im just lazy, but i hope it doesnt put u off checking out my blog.

im gonna use this blog as a portal for some of my photographic work. im still pretty much a n00b and have a lot to learn, but i think some of my shots arent too bad. iv only recently graduated into the world of D-SLR. i shot P&S for a while, and cut my teeth using a Fuji FinePix S5500.

currently im shooting a Canon 400D. i love my new camera, and enjoy every shot i take with it.

well, thats all for my first post, keep coming back, and hopefully ill update it on a weekly basis.

pics for clicks...
