Absolute Maldino Fest

the 18th of november saw the Absolute Maldino Fest go down at Tarlton. based around a hot hatch shootout and the quickest GTI challenge, the event included a sound off (did this even happen), and a show and shine.

As always, the highway collective were representing for the 'dub lifestyle. we pretty much set up our little camp, had our now traditional breakfast fry up, and enjoyed the rest of the day in the sun. jon had his new summer range of HC apparel for sale, and the new tee's seemed to go down a treat.

(clickety click for bigger pic...)

with aldo being a vw nutter, and the main event being the GTI shootout, there were a whole lot of mk5 gti's in the pits. some notable examples were jeremy's stunning white beast rolling on 19" Phaeton rims, and kevins mean Mk4.

highway collective mini photoshoot

tonight jon (collective) and myself hooked up in fourways and had a little photoshoot. we met at the fourways macdonalds and went across to the game shopping centre's covered parking area. was a pretty cool area, fairly well lit, and a nice grimey setting for your dubs...

then afterwards we went and played around with painting the cars with our cell fone camera flashes, and writing our names. after a few tries, these are what we managed to created. *im abit bummed about the focus on the car, had to use manual focus cos it was so dark)

VW Jamboree

yesterday was the VW club's Jamboree festival at Zwartkops raceway. the event centred around a gymkana that lead out onto the main track, with a few obstacles laid out with cones and a detour back into the pit area.

the highway collective crew hooked up at around 7am at fourways crossing. i was pretty bummed when i woke up at 06:00 and heard the distant rumble of thunder. we had all worked so hard washing our cars, and were amped for the event, but the possibility of rain put bit of a dampener on things. however, come 07:15, and the rain had stopped, and the clouds were clearing!!!

07:40 and we hit the road! brad rocking the new black vr's.

the highway collective set up camp and got cooking. skottle FTW!

brad representing for the highway collective...

still my favourite car at the moment.

and remember kids, bicykiller loves you all...

stu giving brad some last minute advice...

highway collective HQ. jon had his awesome HC tee's for sale, and they seemed quite popular with all the masses...

at one stage about 10 old skool mk1's rolled in. it goes without saying that jon and i grabbed our cameras and took a walk to where they were all parked.
